Common questions

I see "Need admin approval" when I sign in

Many organisations require an IT administrator to approve apps that read Teams chats. If the sign-in page offers Request approval, tap it and add a short reason; the request goes to your administrators. Once they approve, sign in again and Strapline opens.

Administrators can approve the request in the Microsoft Entra admin center (Enterprise applications, then Admin consent requests), or approve Strapline for the whole organisation in one step by opening this admin consent link and signing in as an administrator. The permissions Strapline asks for are listed under For IT administrators below.

My organisation uses Intune, or asks me to install Company Portal

An Apple Watch cannot be enrolled in Intune, so on the watch alone Strapline cannot meet those rules. Open Strapline on your iPhone and tap Sign in with Microsoft Authenticator. Your watch then works through your iPhone (keep it nearby). Your IT administrator may need to add Strapline (bundle ID com.ealia.lapel) to your organisation's Intune app protection policy; the administrator guide explains how.

Sign in does not work or loops

Use your work or school account, not a personal Microsoft account (the Teams chat service does not support personal accounts). Complete any multi-factor prompt on the sign-in page. If your organisation blocks sign-in from unmanaged devices, ask your administrator. If the watch shows an error, open Settings, choose Sign out, and sign in again. Make sure the watch has a connection (Wi-Fi, or its phone or cellular link).

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Strapline on the watch, go to the plans screen, and tap Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account that bought it. If the plans screen is not showing, open Settings in the app, where the current plan is listed. Lifetime purchases can also be shared with your Family Sharing group.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Strapline Pro and tap Cancel. You can also use the App Store app (your profile, then Subscriptions). Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. You keep access until the end of the paid period. For a refund request, use reportaproblem.apple.com, because Apple handles all payments.

How do I remove my data or revoke access?

In Strapline choose Settings, then Sign out, which deletes the tokens from the watch. Deleting the app does the same. You or your administrator can also revoke access at myapps.microsoft.com (or in Microsoft Entra under Enterprise applications).

Can I report or hide a chat?

Swipe left on a chat in Strapline and choose Hide to remove it from your list (Teams shows it again if a new message arrives). Blocking and reporting people are done in Microsoft Teams itself, and your organisation's administrators control moderation. To report a problem with Strapline, email us at the address above.

A call will not connect, or the watch says calls are unavailable

Check that Strapline Pro + Calls is active: open Settings in Strapline, where the plan is listed, or tap See plans and then Restore Purchases. Make sure the watch is connected (Wi-Fi, or its cellular or phone link). The first call asks you to allow Teams calls. Calls can take a few seconds to start, so wait before trying again.

Calling a phone number is not available

Phone calls need a Teams Calling Plan or Teams Phone number from your organisation. If your organisation has neither, you can still call colleagues on Teams from the chat.

My watch does not ring for incoming calls

Strapline does not receive incoming Teams calls. Answer calls on your phone or computer, or in Microsoft Teams.

Can I call emergency services?

No. Do not use Strapline to call 000, 112, 911 or any other emergency number. Use your phone's emergency calling, or on the watch, hold the side button for Emergency SOS.

For IT administrators

Strapline is a multi-tenant Microsoft Entra app published by Daeza Pty Ltd (application ID 067dc646-d09f-43f8-b082-30bfdcd3a308). There is nothing to install or register. The first approval adds Strapline to Enterprise applications in your tenant, where you can review, limit or remove it at any time.

Approve Strapline for everyone in one step. Open the admin consent link, sign in as a Global Administrator, Cloud Application Administrator or Application Administrator, and accept. People can then sign in on their watch straight away.

Or let people ask you. In the Microsoft Entra admin center, go to Enterprise applications, then Consent and permissions, then Admin consent settings, and turn on Users can request admin consent to apps they are unable to consent to. Requests then arrive by email and under Admin consent requests.

Strapline uses delegated permissions only. It acts as the signed-in person and can only see what that person can see in Teams. It has no application permissions and no access to channels, files or mail.

Microsoft Mobile Application Management

Teams calls run through Strapline's call service in Microsoft Azure (Australia East), which uses Microsoft's own calling service to place the call as the signed-in person. The person signs in to Microsoft on their own watch or iPhone, so your Conditional Access and multi-factor rules apply as usual. The call service never sees their password and does not keep their Microsoft sign-in after the call ends. Calling phone numbers also needs a Teams Phone licence with a Calling Plan, Operator Connect or Direct Routing.

Strapline and Strapline Calls are published by Daeza Pty Ltd, a Microsoft verified publisher and a member of the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program, so the consent screen shows Daeza Pty Ltd with a verified badge.
